58 Runners and 7 teams lined up at the start of the 2013 Narrabeen Allnighter.
The feature of this years race was the great running by the females. 7 ran over 100km. In the previous 4 events, only 4 women have ran over 100km, plus 4 completing the 100km event. Sarah Richardson provisionally broke two F45 Australian Age records (6 Hour - 56.666km and 12 Hour - 108.904km). As well, Natalie Watson, the 12 hour race record holder, just missed the Aust 6 hour F40 record held by the outstanding Helen Stanger. Natalie ran 63.439km.
Natalies 12 hour race record was under threat for most of the race. Winner, Sabine Hamaty, just missed the mark with 110.081 km. Close behind were Larissa Tichon, 109.259 km, Sarah Richardson, 108.904 and Annabel Hepworth, 108.362.
In the mens, Mal Gamble, the only runner to compete in all 5 years stagings of the event, won clearly with 131.063 kms. Mal also won the age/gender graded trophy.
Next was Chris Knowles, running his 3rd ultra, with 111.866 km.
Fresh? from a Coast 2 Kosci 5th, Shane Simpson
finished 3rd with 109.333 kms.
M50 winner, Peter Nuttall, provisionally broke the Australian record for his age group with 103.165km. Peter also passed the old record last year, but was denied the record as John Doughty ran 400m further.
The teams format was new this year and 7 teams organised themselves for the 12 hour event.
The two JORG teams cleaned up. The winners were coach Jim Owens and top runner Chadi Elaskar. 150+kms.
2nd place was Chris Mullen and Wayne Camenzuli with 143+ kms.
3rd was a visiting USA Navy team of Greg Schuy and Heriverto Colado with 138+kms.
Age Group and Novice winners were also decided and are included in the results linked above.
Conditions were good for mid summer. Not too hot but humid.
