Narrabeen Allnighter 2023  

This year will be the 16th edition of the race.

The main event is a trail race to complete the furthest distance in 12 hours.

There will also be a marathon starting at Midnight (plus early start option), and a teams event for the 12 hour race, for teams of 2.

The races will be held on a 5.275 km out and back trail loop, adjacent to Narrabeen Lake, 20km North of Sydney.

The Marathon is 8 laps. The allnighter distance will be the distance of the last half lap completed.

The trail is the bush trail that heads West from the start line near the Sailing Club

There will be divisions for Male, Female, plus age groups (Min 3) in all races.  Check previous results for previous age group categories.

The trail races have been measured, but cannot be certified for records etc. The trail is flat, smooth and fast. Headlamps are required.

 

Entry dates.

Entries will be taken until Dec 6.

The allnighter races are sanctioned by AURA, Australian Ultra Runners Association Inc,

Allnighter and Teams  Sat Dec 9 2023   6:00 pm.     Briefing by email.    Race pack pickup from  4 pm.

Midnight Marathon      Sat Dec 9 2023   Midnight.     Briefing  by email     Race pack pickup from 10 pm.

Early Start Marathon.  Sat Dec 9 2023   10pm.         Briefing  by email     Race pack pickup from 8 pm.

 

Covid Protocols.

As Covid rules have recently been relaxed, there should be no restrictions for the race.

It is suggested to use common sense to avoid infecting others if you are suffering symptoms of any kind.

Briefing.

There will be no formal briefing. All briefing details will be emailed to entrants and any questions can then be put on the Facebook page or via email. 


Aid Station.

There will not be a full aid station. All runners will need to carry their own water and provide their own race fuel. There will be access to self serve water near the start area.

 

Crew Details.

There is plenty of room for crews to setup adjacent to the running line in the start/lap area. Please avoid getting too close to the course and hindering runners.

Self Crewing. There will be a dedicated area for entrants self crewing. Gazebos and tables will be setup adjacent to the timing table.


Finish Protocol and Awards

Trophies will be presented to marathon finishers as runners cross the finish line, or when results are clear.

If you feel you may be in contention for an age group award, please wait for a few minutes and we will inform you.

There will be a presentation for 12 hour events as soon as full reults are available.

 

Weather

Typical temps from 15 min to 24 max. Humid with a sea breeze until midnight.


Trophies.

Trophies will be awarded for 1st, and other places dependant on entrant numbers, for male and female in all events,

There will also be trophies for Age Groups of 3 or more.

Allnighter  Ultra  Individual    $150         

Marathon           Individual     $80    

Allnighter  Ultra  Team Member    $85 each      

AURA Member      10% Discount.

 

Refunds.

Withdraw before Nov 1      -  Full entry fee less admin fees.

After Oct 31 and before Dec 1    - 75% entry fee less admin fees.

After  Nov 30 and before Race Day  25% entry fee less admin fees.

Extra allowance may be given for extraneous circumstance. eg Covid, natural disasters. 



 Presentations

Trophies will be presented as soon as practical after winners finish their race.

 

Facilities.

Portable toilets are near the old clubhouse. Cold out door showers available.

 

Parking

Parking is available at the start in Jamieson Park, and local streets

Parking fees apply in Jamieson Park from 7am to 7pm.

It is unlikely that parking inspectors will issue fines late afternoon, but no guarantees are given.

Travel

By Car, either by Wakehurst Parkway or Pittwater Road to Mactier St/ Pittwater Road Lights,

Turn West and follow the road adjacent to the Lake for about 1km. The entrance is just before the steep hill.

For travel from Sydney Airport-

Train to Wynyard, about $20, B1 Bus, about $5, to Narrabeen, 1.8 km walk to the Start.
